Head of Unit, Research Delivery Support

About Me.

Coventry born identical twin of Jamaican parents, I have worked at Coventry University for over 32 years, having also studied here as a mature student for my Batchelor’s and Masters degrees. I am currently the Head of the Research Management and Administration Unit in Research Services.

I am currently a member of Coventry University’s Board of Governors, serving my second term of office; the Race Equality Council and the Professional Services (2) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Sub Committee. I am also an internal and external coach and mentor.

Why is a BME Staff Network important to you?

As a black member of staff the network gives me an opportunity to connect with others in a safe space, who have shared experiences of being black @ Coventry University as well as in society. I value the sharing of experiences with others and learning from those of others.    I strive to contribute as a ‘black’ voice and face, to influence strategy and practice to enhance the BME experience at the University.

I have worked my way up through the ranks at Coventry University from its Polytechnic days when I rarely saw another BME colleague.   The network provides more visibility of the BME community at Coventry University as well as connect us to others across the sector.
