In the fourth part of the BME Staff Network’s ‘How Much Do Black Lives Matter’ series, we were joined by panellists Professor Gus John, Marie Charles and Malcolm Cumberbatch in an interactive discussion on the growing debate around the complexities and challenges of ‘allyship’ in the shadow of the increased focus and attention this has received, since the resurgence of Black Lives Matter, after the killing of George Floyd in the US. Addressing some of the misconceptions, potential pitfalls as well as opportunities for achieving systemic change and a more holistic understanding of what it means to be an ‘ally’.
